So, You’re a writer.

And you need an editor. Or maybe you’re not a writer, and so you need an editor. Welcome. Even editors need editors - you’re in good company.

No matter your content, we can do this together. We believe in collaboration - your voice, your words, but better. We want your intent to be impossible to misunderstand.

Your project could be big - 120 pages of a proposal! - or small - a corporate resume - but we recognize that it’s important to you. We promise both honesty and encouragement, broken down into achievable chunks.

And by the way…we know the rules, so we know how to break them.

how it works

You’ll reach out to share your project: what it is, how long it is, how much time you have. For some services, you’ll attach a sample. We’ll consult our calendars and follow up with pricing information, a contract, and, if you haven’t already booked one, an invitation to a consultation. There, we’ll chat to understand your goals and needs. If we all agree it’s a good match, off we go. Expect some homework - we wouldn’t be doing it right if we didn’t query you. If your needs shift over the course of the project, or if it becomes clear that we’re all looking at revisions beyond the anticipated scope of the project, we’ll revisit the contract.

Meet your editor

I am Liz Burnham - strategist, pun aficionado, and wordsmith.

I specialize in taking highly complex - even convoluted - text and streamlining it for maximum effect. My niche is military, government, or for the greater good.

I started my professional editing when a naval officer working at a government agency, though I had been involved in informal public affairs and textbook revisions before that. In grad school, I joined and immediately took the helm of a graduate academic journal. I have covered a wide variety of non-profit writing and editing, and I have managed teams of editors at an international development company.

My network includes freelance editors and graphic designers, should your project need additional support.
